Doppler Effect (2002)

Time passes
At top speed
As though it were
An expensive foreign car.

Rising and falling with the Doppler Effect.

First Snow of 1992 (1992)

The cold wet feeling
of a large flake of snow
upon the face;
one of innumerable siblings
taking the journey downward.

Coming from Heaven
only to touch my face
and become a drop of water.

Standing in Line At The Registrar's Office (1991)

Standing in line
for an eternity....

The guy in front of me
with his large yellow pony tail
and Walkman

jiggles in accordance to the whims
of his music.

As though he were
a disturbed piece of Jello.

The girl to the rear of me
discusses a dream with her friend.

Apparently Brian Mulroney
lectured about the constitution
in her Grandmother's livingroom.
This was followed by a fashion show.

The line is getting shorter now
eternity reduced
to mere minutes.

All I can think of now
is lunch.

Shadows (2003)

Grey shadows
Fleshed out by the present moment

Things forgotten twice over
Appear a second time

Remembering who I was
           and am

Flipping
             Over a coin
                                In my pocket
                                                     Full of change

A world out of focus (2003)

A world out of focus

A mind full of circus mirrors

I take the poison
In hopes the demons that haunt me
                                                            Will disappear

Wishing a cat would
                        Come out of the hat
And lay down beside me
                                Purr for a while

Knowing friends tell the truth

Still not believing

She Walks (2003)

She walks
Like a silk scarf
Gently taken by a breeze

Mind movies
Of unforgotten green fields
Replace
Crowded cement and asphalt

Cubicle (2003)

They’ve got me in the cubicle.

They,

Them,

Those ones.

In the cubicle I am.

Spring (2003)

Starting

Leaving

Departing

Looking for something new

Leaves on spring’s trees unfurl

The sun smiles down at them
And me

Finding something new
In that junk-drawer at the back of the head

Maybe it’s something old
Just looks new
Because I haven’t seen it in a while

DNA (2003)

DNA stands for
Do not ask.

Break it down
And build it up.
Fulfilling Hitler’s dream.
Maybe they’ll clone a better me
With all the annoying bits taken out.

Paying for your indulgences
By being put
Next to a splitting atom.

Wasn’t quark a guy on Star Trek?

Quick Scotty
Beam me up
I’m being chased by the thought police.

That u or me on the TV?
On the American Government news channel?
They call it CNN.
